Dear Survivor, You may not feel this way right now, but I promise you that life can be beautiful again. I understand the depths of the pain that comes with being a survivor, but it won’t always feel this way. Healing isn’t linear. Some days can be down right messy, exhausting and excruciatingly painful, but I promise, you will rise back up again. You are stronger than you think you are and I know you are going to make it through this. I want you to know the strength and the power in my words when I say I believe you. If you have ever experienced the betrayal of being disbelieved when telling your truth, I want you to know that I am so incredibly sorry. You deserve so much more. You deserve love, support and all the care this commentary can wrap around you. I am sorry that this happened to you and I want you to know I care about you deeply. The load I see you are carrying on your back right now must be crippling, but you don’t have to carry it alone. We are here and ready to take your hand as soon as you reach out. We hold you in our hearts every day because you are worthy of every ounce of love that we can offer. Please never forget that. When you feel alone and the darkness is threatening to consume you, I hope you remember this letter and remember that you have a community, an army of warriors, standing with you. You will never be alone. -S.C. Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton 24-Hour Crisis Hotline - (780) 423-4121 Sexual Assault Awareness Month #SAAM2015 @StephanieChard
